Glenrothes single cask 1966 and 1967
Forgive me for not being able to tear myself away from the company hymn book for a moment – Berry Bros & Rudd happens to own the brand – but it is a red letter day when The Glenrothes releases a new vintage and especially when the whisky is far rarer than any previous offerings.
The announced 1966 and 1967 single casks of this perilously drinkable Speysider fulfil all of the requisites of a strong collector’s edition, namely, very limited quantities available, numbered bottles, great packaging and contents tempting enough that the number of bottles released will most probably decline with fair rapidity.
Price guide: There are two casks from each vintage available, the 1966 malts costing around £900 per bottle and the 1967’s at £700.
Full tasting notes are available in Issue 30 of Whisky Magazine (Page 21).

Jim Murray´s Whisky Bibel 2004/2005 1rst and 2nd Edition

The Glenrothes 1967 cask 6998 db (94) n24 amiable malt blunders into vanilla: this relaxed, seriously laid-back yet ultra complex malt keeps you sniffing until your nose bleeds; t24 glorious. Just a celebration of all  things malty yet softly spiced, fruity yet grained, sweet yet at times slightly dry; f23 a slight hint of something smokey as the peppers tone down to something softer amid the sweet vanilla; b23 Glenrothes at its most seductive and complex. Now this is a classic: not just a Speysider but among all Scotland malts. Almost Sprinbankesque in sheer, unfettered elan. 46,3% nc. 180 bottles.
